The quote that I chose from the text, is "...(drawing) an active
line on a walk moving freely; without a goal. A walk for walk sake."
It made me think of
people, how we are always trying to describe something, whether it be a
feeling or an idea, and sometimes there is nothing we can say or do to
describe it. Instead we are at a loss. For an
artist at loss and longing to describe the seemingly undescribable, it
is that scartch of graphite across the paper and then something happens,
call it inspiration, an accident, a stroke of genius! This "something"
grows and blossoms under your fingertips and
to think it all started with that aimless line.
Talk about aimless lines

Sketch Book: Mechanics
I chose to do a little pocket watch because I found it fascinating that such a tiny thing could be so intricate.

Artist Qoute
Oddly, I was having a tough time
dealing with local color. I'm so used to using relative color (“no-name” color
that only exists in context), which is supposed to be harder but . . . it’s
like walking on a ship at sea: you get on dry land and fall over. ---anne harris
Funny how things work out that way. I find to share that similar experience when I start using a new medium or concept I don't understand but it can be fun to see how something you have no idea how to do or grasp turns out. It's a challenge and what is life without challenges.

Self portrait: progress
I know I really changed my concept but that's only because I didn't feel the same way as I did when I first started. To be honest I don't like the idea of drawing myself because I've noticed when you look at something for a long time you start to realize something about it. In a way I want to hide that realization especially from myself.

Self-Portrait: Being Literal
Being literal isn't a bad thing but I wanted to do something quirky. One of my quirks is my fascination with folklore and recently I just finished a book on Irish folklore. Most of it was about witches and fairies. Fairies were described as harmless, mischievous, and playful creatures. Their moods swing as quickly as a child and I would know since I live with two of them.
My little brother and sister tend to rub off on me and I feel the urge to play the roles they envisioned for me. I love playing as the monster and chasing after them. Even though I am the monster my intentions are not evil only playful in mischievous sense. Which is what inspired the "elf" ears, wicked smile, and the gleam in the eyes.
